Christmas on Short Street

Well, as another year rolls around, there have been plenty of blessings and discouragements, I'm sure for all of us. Things have been crazy in our household to say the least. But through it all, My God is a Mighty One. He's seen us through each and every storm. We are truly starting to learn how to dance in the rain, instead of waiting for the Sunshine and Rainbows...Even though you may not see them now, in your present situation, God has plan's and there IS a reason for everything! If not to make your Stronger, but more Understanding of Him.

So, With that said, I'm feeling very blessed this Christmas. I'm blessed that everyone was here and alive. God seems to constantly remind me daily of what we almost lost. My beautiful children are healthy, and living full happy lives. Life is short, and can be so easily whisked away from you. Within the same breath I can definitely say that I will never forget this year, and I never want to remember this year, for that simple fact alone. And you know, no matter what..With all the presents, the money, the gifts, the ONLY thing that really matters is the Love and Blessings of a family.
We were concerned this year, because Rob wasn't working very much since a week before Thanksgiving. It was to the point that we wouldn't know where Christmas was going to come from for the kids (we NEVER give each other anything) and we didn't know where this months money for 1/2 the bills was going to come from. I couldn't really get mad at his work, nor the weather. It was just one of those things, that you can't prevent. That is just part of the field of work that he is in.

We did the best we could this year, and when it comes down to it, we were just all glad to be together, relaxing, eating with family, and enjoying the day inside where it was warm and cozy. This year we had Christmas dinner at our house. Wow, talk about excitement! It has always been a goal of mine to be able to host Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner at my home. I feel so honored that I was able to. We had loads of fun, and lots to eat. Even though not all the family could make it, because of sickness or trips back to their own homes, but all were thought of on a wonderful day!

All in all, Christmas 2009 was a fantastic one!

A Christmas Like No Other..

We in the Powell Family Got to Celebrate Two Birthdays This Christmas.

Christmas Eve we enjoyed talking about Jesus and what he means to us. How we wouldn't have Christmas If It Weren't For Him.

Now If we were only prepared for the phone call we got at 4:30 in the morning on Christmas Day. ThatsRight, Roberts Sister, Brandie (Aunt B) Had her baby! In just 3 1/2 hours from that phone call, We welcomed Wesley Harper Brown! A little girl, who weighed 6lbs 14 oz , 19 3/4" Long @ 7:34a.m. In Abilene. Seeing how Caleb was obviously asleep still, we waited to go until he had his Christmas at our house. When he did wake up, we told him Santa had been there and that he's also been to Abilene and Dropped off a present to his Aunt B. and Cousin Wesley was here!! He was so excited...We didnt get home until about 8:15 p.m. that night. Whew were we tired and glad to be home. But what a Huge present for Brandie and George!!

And the house came tumbling down.....

Well, so much for happy endings. We had decided on Monday that we were going to attempt the Gingerbread House that Calebs Great Grandma had given him. Trying to be festive I gave it a go. Well I knew we had our work cut out for us when I opened the package and saw that 4 out of the 6 pieces were broken to start with. I went ahead and "glued" them back together with the icing in hopes that they would stay whole to make a house. Well that didn't work really the way I had hoped, and it all came tumbling down. Caleb was Such a good sport though. I told him that we couldn't rebuild and would have to settle for "gingerbread house cookies" Well, he thought that was the next best thing and went with it!! We decorated them and this is what we had as end result! I tried and I don't think I will again. We had fun trying though.

Christmas is over, and so here comes the New Year!

WELL!! Christmas is over and thank goodness for that! But you wouldn't know by talking to Caleb. The little sweetheart is still singing "jingle bells!"I'm so glad he isn't so oblivious this year, because we had so much fun this Christmas!

Christmas eve we went to Great Gmas as well as Aunt Jeanas house, where Caleb got to see his favorite pup, Maddie! He got a Jesus action figure, blocks, a game, and books, plus so many other cool things!

Santa was so good to Caleb and he was just so happy on Christmas morning! Santa Brought him all the things he wanted and more. But the best thing was his Mini Golf Cart! When he came out of his room, and he didn't even care about the other gifts, he went straight to the Cart. The best part was watching him try to drive the thing on the carpet!

Christmas evening when we went to Mimis and Papas and he got a TRICYCLE from them! What a happy and loved boy, Caleb is! That night we watched movies, ate yummy sandwiches and opened lots of presents, that had clothes and toys inside! All was well this Christmas in the Powell Home! We pray that your family had a blessed Christmas and Happy New year!
